Chongqing Technology & Business Institute(CQTBI) is a full-time institution of higher education established by Chongqing Municipal People's Government with the approval of China’s Ministry of Education. It is open to students nationwide. The CQTBI is one of the key vocational colleges in Chongqing and China at large. It consists of two campuses in He chuan and Hua yan. Among its 741 faculties, 35 are professors with other senior titles, 131 are associate professors, senior engineers, senior experimenters, and 338 are with Doctor or Master degree. There are 7 secondary Departments providing 48 programs under the CQTBI, which provides full-time enrolment for about 12,000 college students.

The CQTBI has Gigabit network, modern teaching buildings, studios and other facilities. It owns 215 training rooms, among which 95 were funded by central government and 29 by municipal government. The institute serves local economy and social development. The CQTBI has signed strategic cooperation agreements with municipal and district governments as well as dozens of enterprises and public institutions. The Institute has established the Jialing River Innovation and Enterprise Center and the Jiulong Creative Industry Center. Moreover, it has founded the Development and Cooperation Council jointly with the governments, related industry fields and enterprises. The CQTBI has been facilitating joint education programs to broaden areas of education and explore new ways of talent training and professional development. In recent years, the Institute has signed cooperation agreements with 297 businesses and public institutions on 150 projects, offering over 4,500 jobs on average each year.

Faced with the rapid development of internet, the Institute has been researching and analyzing the opportunities and challenges brought to universities and colleges and to teaching and learning as well. In 2016, the CQTBI set up the “Research Institute of Big Date Application”. With big data technology, it provides empirical analysis and intellectual support to CQTBI’s education reform, decision making, teaching evaluation and governance. It meets students’ needs for more practical education and employers’ needs for better talents. The CQTBI aims to build an “internet plus” vocational education.
The Institute promotes education reform by improving teachers’ innovation ability and drives employment by encouraging entrepreneurship. It has invested 1 million RMB launching an entrepreneurial center for its students. It combines teaching, simulation and practice in entrepreneurial education. With opportunities brought by the Internet, the Institute has decided to follow the “Internet plus education” strategy. This means to integrate higher vocational education with distance education, avail modern information technology in the education process and combine academic education with non-academic education. It would help reform and upgrade the Institute’s education and build an “internet plus” vocational education system. The last few years have witnessed a stable rise of the graduates’ quality. More than 240 students have won prizes in various professional skill competitions and Department cultural and sports competitions.
Against the background of “Internet plus”, the CQTBI will promote development by focusing on its quality, uniqueness, culture and talents. It will be open for cooperation to reinforce its own strength. Focusing on modern services, it will reform its teaching and curricular system and train high-caliber professionals with applied skills. Ultimately, the CQTBI will strive to become one of China’s first-class vocational colleges of applied technologies and contribute to the development of modern vocational education system of Chongqing.
